Diana Shipping Secures New Charter for Maia

Diana Shipping, the New York-listed Greek shipping company, has successfully arranged follow-on employment for its kamsarmax bulk carrier, the Maia. The vessel is set to begin a time charter with Paralos Shipping, earning $14,000 per day, starting January 13, 2026, and running until at least July 5, 2027. The new agreement is expected to boost Diana Shipping’s revenue significantly.

Details of the New Charter Agreement

The Maia, currently engaged in a time charter at a rate of $11,600 per day, will see its earnings increase under the new contract. The arrangement includes a 5% commission, and the fixed daily rate reflects a strategic move by Diana Shipping to secure a more lucrative deal for the upcoming operational period. The minimum term of the new charter is projected to yield approximately $7.45 million in gross revenue for the company.

Built in 2009, the Maia is one of six kamsarmax vessels in Diana Shipping’s diverse fleet of 36 ships. This extension not only ensures higher profitability but also demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining solid relationships with charterers while navigating the challenges of the shipping market. The strategic decision to lock in this rate highlights Diana Shipping’s proactive approach in securing its financial future amid fluctuating market conditions.

Diana Shipping Secures Long-Term Charters for Two Vessels

Overall, the new charter agreement positions Diana Shipping favorably as it continues to optimize its fleet’s performance and revenue-generating capabilities in the competitive bulk shipping sector.
