Disney Welcomes New Cruise Ship, Destiny

Disney Cruise Line has officially added the Disney Destiny to its fleet, marking a significant milestone ahead of its inaugural voyage next month. The delivery ceremony took place in the Netherlands, where Disney executives accepted ownership from the shipbuilder, Meyer Werft. The Disney Destiny is set to embark on its maiden journey on November 20, 2025, promising a unique experience themed around Disney’s iconic heroes and villains.

Celebrating a Maritime Milestone

In a special ceremony held today, Disney Cruise Line celebrated the official delivery of its newest ship, the Disney Destiny. This event is a cherished maritime tradition that signifies the completion of the ship’s construction and the transfer of ownership from Meyer Werft to Disney. Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences, and Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, were present to accept the ship. Captain Andy McRonald, who will navigate the Disney Destiny on its transatlantic journey to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also attended the ceremony.

Disney Cruise Ceremony Kicks Off Fourth Wish Class Ship Construction

The Disney Destiny is designed to immerse guests in the rich narratives of Disney’s beloved characters. It will feature exclusive venues and experiences that enhance the renowned entertainment, dining, and hospitality that Disney Cruise Line is known for. Following its maiden voyage, the ship will offer four- and five-night cruises to The Bahamas and the Western Caribbean, including stops at Disney’s private islands, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Looking Ahead to Future Voyages

As anticipation builds for the Disney Destiny’s debut, Disney Cruise Line fans are already excited about the future. The launch of the Destiny is just the beginning, as Disney plans to introduce several new ships in the coming years. Shortly after the Destiny sets sail, the Disney Adventure will embark on its maiden voyage from Singapore, featuring traditional Disney Cruise experiences alongside thrilling attractions.

Additionally, a fourth ship in the Wish class, which recently had its steel cutting ceremony, is set to join the fleet. Disney has also ordered three more ships, which will be part of a new, smaller class expected to debut in 2029, 2030, and 2031. Furthermore, the Oriental Land Company, which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort, is set to receive its own Disney ship, further expanding the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
