From Marine Green to Navy Blue: A New Chapter
On December 6, 2024, a significant moment unfolded at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Former U.S. Marine Corps Master Sergeant Chantise Robinson transitioned from the Marine Corps to the Navy, swapping her iconic Marine green uniform for Navy blue. This was not just a change in appearance but a milestone in a career that spans 16 years of dedicated service. Chantise, originally from Louisiana, is now starting a new chapter as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. Her journey is one of perseverance, challenges, and a steadfast pursuit of her dreams in the medical field.
An Inspiring Journey: From Dreams to Dedication
Chantise Robinson’s story began with a clear goal: to become a pharmacist. When she first joined the Marine Corps, her plan was to serve for four years and then return to civilian life to pursue her education. However, as her service continued, her love for the military deepened.
In 2013, she discovered the Medical Service Corps In-Service Procurement Program (MSC-IPP), a Navy initiative that offered a pathway into the medical field. This sparked a critical decision: Should she transition to Navy training or continue her studies while serving in the Marine Corps?
Robinson chose the latter, completing her undergraduate degree in 2019 while continuing to rise through Marine Corps ranks, eventually becoming a gunnery sergeant. Despite her growing responsibilities and achievements in the Corps, she remained committed to her ultimate dream of working in the medical field.

Turning Setbacks into Success
While pursuing her master’s degree part-time at Louisiana State University, Robinson encountered setbacks. Despite completing her program in just 18 months, she was initially rejected from the MSC-IPP. “I almost gave up,” she admitted, recalling her disappointment.
Encouraged by her recruiter and leaders, Robinson didn’t let the rejection define her journey. In October 2024, her persistence paid off—she was accepted into the MSC-IPP. This moment marked a turning point, allowing her to transition to the Navy and begin the next phase of her military and medical career.
Embracing New Challenges in the Navy
Switching from the Marine Corps to the Navy is no small task. For Robinson, it meant taking on the role of a commissioned officer at the rank of lieutenant junior grade. While she was both excited and anxious, she viewed the transition as an opportunity to grow and serve in a new way.
As a medical officer, Robinson will provide essential healthcare to service members and their families. Her responsibilities require medical expertise, leadership, and strong communication—skills she honed during her years in the Marine Corps. “I’m ready to take on this challenge,” she shared, reflecting on her readiness to contribute to the Navy’s mission.
Lessons in Resilience and Perseverance
Robinson’s story is a powerful example of resilience and determination. She encourages others to stay focused on their goals, no matter the obstacles. “Don’t ever give up on your goals,” she advises. “Let perseverance take you far, not only in your career but in life.”
Her journey—from navigating challenges in her personal and professional life to finally stepping into her dream role—shows that it’s never too late to pursue what you truly want.
A Legacy of Service
Chantise Robinson’s transition from the Marine Corps to the Navy is more than a career change—it’s a testament to her unwavering dedication to service and her country. Her 16 years in the Marines have prepared her for the responsibilities ahead, and her story serves as an inspiration for anyone striving to achieve their dreams.
As she begins her new role as a medical officer, Robinson continues to exemplify the values of perseverance, leadership, and commitment. Her journey reminds us all that with determination and support, even the most ambitious dreams can become a reality.
