Evalend Shipping Expands Suezmax Fleet in South Korea

Evalend Shipping, a Greek shipping company, has announced a significant expansion of its fleet by placing an order for two additional Suezmax tankers at HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea. This latest order, which includes vessels with a deadweight tonnage of 157,000, is set for delivery in October and December 2027. The newbuilds are part of a growing series that underscores Evalend’s commitment to enhancing its energy carrier capabilities.
Details of the New Order
Under the leadership of Kriton Lendoudis, Evalend Shipping has secured its fifth and sixth newbuilds in a series that began earlier this year with an initial order for two Suezmax vessels. The latest additions are equipped with scrubbers, reflecting the company’s focus on meeting modern environmental standards. The price for each of these new vessels is approximately $87 million, slightly higher than the $85.26 million price tag for the two Suezmaxes delivered earlier this year.
Evalend Shipping’s newbuilding portfolio is impressive, with over 30 projects currently listed in shipbuilding databases. The majority of these projects consist of energy carrier vessels, which will join a fleet that already includes more than 50 ships. Notably, more than half of these vessels are bulk carriers, indicating a diverse operational focus.
The strategic expansion of Evalend’s fleet aligns with the company’s long-term vision to strengthen its position in the maritime industry. By investing in new, technologically advanced vessels, Evalend aims to enhance its operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, ensuring it remains competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
