Excelerate Energy Launches New Floating LNG Unit

Excelerate Energy has reached a significant milestone with the launch of its new floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), designated Hull 3407. The vessel was launched from the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, marking a crucial step toward its expected delivery in 2026. This state-of-the-art FSRU is designed to enhance the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) capabilities, boasting a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters and the ability to deliver one billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Hull 3407: A Game-Changer in LNG Technology
The launch of Hull 3407 signifies the transition of the vessel from dry dock to the sea, indicating the completion of its structural assembly. This milestone is pivotal for Excelerate Energy, a leader in the LNG sector, as it enhances the company’s portfolio of flexible regasification services. The FSRU is equipped with dual-fuel diesel-electric engines and advanced emissions-reduction systems, positioning it as a best-in-class solution for LNG transportation and regasification.
Excelerate Energy expressed gratitude to its partners at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for their exceptional execution in bringing this project to fruition. The company is optimistic about the future, believing that the growth of its fleet will align with the increasing demand for FSRUs and the global focus on energy security. In addition to the FSRU project, Excelerate is also pursuing strategic investments in LNG import terminals and related infrastructure, including the acquisition of assets from New Fortress Energy in Jamaica.
This launch not only marks a technical achievement for Excelerate Energy but also underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its influence in the LNG market. As the world continues to seek reliable energy sources, Hull 3407 is poised to play a vital role in meeting these demands.
