Fratelli Cosulich Expands Methanol-Ready Fleet

Italian shipping company Fratelli Cosulich has announced the construction of a new methanol-ready chemical bunkering tanker at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipbuilding in China. This new vessel, with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 7,999, is designed to transport various cargoes, including fuel oil, biofuels, and methanol. The addition of this tanker underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable marine energy solutions.

Expansion of Methanol-Ready Fleet

Fratelli Cosulich’s latest order marks a significant step in its strategy to enhance its fleet with environmentally friendly vessels. The newbuild is part of a larger initiative that began last July when the Genoa-based company ordered up to four new chemical tankers at the same shipyard. The first vessel from this series is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2026. This initial tanker is backed by a charter agreement with TFG Marine, indicating strong market demand for methanol dual-fuel capabilities.

The delivery of the latest vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. With this addition, Fratelli Cosulich will have a total of four methanol-ready bunker ships in its fleet. The company emphasizes its belief in a multi-energy future, showcasing its dedication to adopting the latest technological innovations in the shipping industry. Fratelli Cosulich is committed to supporting the transition to sustainable marine energy, reflecting a growing trend in the maritime sector towards greener practices. As the industry evolves, the company aims to stay at the forefront of these developments, ensuring it meets the changing needs of its clients and the environment.
