Fisherman Airlifted to Safety Following Injury Off Finistère Coast

On April 20, 2026, a crew member of the fishing vessel ‘Scuderia’ was airlifted to safety after sustaining injuries while working off the coast of Finistère. The incident occurred approximately 66 nautical miles west of Ushant. The regional maritime rescue coordination center, known as CROSS Corsen, initiated a rescue operation at around 4:45 p.m. when the fishing vessel reported the emergency.

The situation became urgent, prompting the dispatch of an H160 Belligou helicopter from the Lanvéoc base. The helicopter took off at 5:44 p.m. and arrived at the scene by 6:15 p.m. The injured fisherman was successfully hoisted aboard the helicopter at 7:14 p.m. and was quickly transported to the Cavale-Blanche Hospital Center in Brest for medical treatment.
