GE Shipping Delivers LPG Vessel ‘Jag Vishnu’ as Part of Fleet Overhaul

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) announced the successful delivery of its 2002-built LPG vessel, ‘Jag Vishnu’, to undisclosed buyers on Monday. This transaction, which was contracted for sale in the third quarter of FY26, marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing fleet overhaul initiative. The delivery was confirmed through a regulatory filing by GE Shipping, highlighting the company’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and optimizing its operational capabilities.

The sale of ‘Jag Vishnu’ is part of GE Shipping’s broader strategy to enhance its fleet composition. The company has been actively managing its assets to ensure they meet current market demands and operational efficiencies. This delivery comes shortly after GE Shipping welcomed a new addition to its fleet, the 2013-built Medium Range Tanker ‘Jag Pranesh’, which was delivered on February 24. This tanker, constructed in South Korea, has a capacity of approximately 51,565 deadweight tons (dwt) and was financed entirely through the company’s internal accruals.

Fleet Expansion and Future Plans

In addition to the recent delivery of ‘Jag Vishnu’, GE Shipping is also in the process of expanding its fleet with the acquisition of a second-hand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier. This transaction is anticipated to be finalized by the first quarter of FY27. Once completed, this will further bolster GE Shipping’s operational capabilities and enhance its position in the maritime industry.

Currently, GE Shipping’s owned fleet consists of 40 vessels, which includes a diverse range of 26 tankers—comprising five crude tankers, 17 product tankers, and four LPG carriers. Additionally, the fleet features 14 dry bulk carriers, categorized into two capesize, nine kamsarmax, one ultramax, and two supramax vessels. Collectively, these vessels aggregate a total deadweight tonnage of 3.20 million dwt, showcasing the company’s robust presence in both the tanker and dry bulk markets.

As GE Shipping continues to evolve its fleet, the company remains focused on maintaining high operational standards and meeting the demands of a dynamic shipping industry. The recent transactions reflect a strategic approach to fleet management, ensuring that the company is well-positioned for future growth and success in the maritime sector.
