Ghost Shark XL-AUV Arrives in the United States
Arrival of Anduril's Ghost Shark XL-AUV in the U.S. Marks Strategic Expansion
Anduril’s advanced Extra-Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL-AUV), known as the Ghost Shark, has made its debut in the United States. This milestone allows for simultaneous testing on both sides of the Pacific, with one Ghost Shark already stationed in Australia. The presence of the vehicle in the U.S. opens new opportunities for collaboration with American government partners.
The Ghost Shark, designed and constructed in Australia, was transported to the U.S. by a Royal Australian Air Force C-17A aircraft, showcasing its quick deployment capabilities. This timing was strategically aligned with Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), one of the largest maritime exercises globally, conducted near the Hawaiian Islands to ensure maritime security.

The Ghost Shark is a versatile and modular system that can be adapted to various mission needs, reinforcing its role as a powerful force multiplier in global maritime operations. As the strategic environment evolves, the need for autonomous underwater capabilities like Ghost Shark becomes increasingly critical for maintaining deterrence and maritime security.
Anduril’s commitment to rapid innovation is evident in the early delivery of the first Ghost Shark prototype, which was completed a year ahead of schedule. The company’s collaboration with the Royal Australian Navy and Defence Science and Technology Group has accelerated the development of these XL-AUVs, promising a cost-effective and timely solution to emerging maritime threats.
