GRSE and HSL Join Forces for Shipbuilding
In a significant move for India’s maritime sector, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a consortium aimed at enhancing the country’s shipbuilding capabilities. The agreement was formalized in Kolkata on Monday, marking a pivotal step towards bolstering indigenous maritime infrastructure and operational capacity.
Strengthening India’s Maritime Infrastructure
The newly formed consortium between GRSE and HSL is set to play a crucial role in the construction of various maritime platforms, aligning with India’s broader objectives for technological self-reliance in shipbuilding. The MoU was signed by Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding) at GRSE, and Capt Ganti Venkateswarlu, IN (Retd.), Officiating Chairman and Managing Director at HSL. Senior officials from both organizations were present to witness this landmark agreement.
