GRSE, DNV deepen cooperation on warship design
India’s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), a state-owned defense shipbuilder, and global maritime classification and advisory organization DNV have recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on advanced warships, sustainable technologies, digital shipbuilding, and skills development.
Collaboration for Advanced Warships and Green Shipping
The MOU, signed on September 2, 2026, during the SMM Hamburg Maritime Trade Fair in Germany, combines GRSE’s expertise in warship design, shipbuilding, and marine engineering with DNV’s capabilities in classification, certification, technical assurance, digitalization, sustainability, and maritime advisory services. Under this agreement, the two organizations will work together on the development of advanced warships, specialized vessels, green shipping, and sustainable technologies.
Strengthening Capabilities and Supporting Technological Advancements
The collaboration will also extend to digital shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, as well as skills development, training, and knowledge exchange. This partnership is expected to enhance GRSE’s capabilities in digitalization, green technologies, and advanced shipbuilding practices. Moreover, it aims to bolster India’s capacity to undertake technologically advanced defense and commercial shipbuilding projects.
By joining forces, GRSE and DNV are poised to make significant strides in the maritime industry, paving the way for innovative solutions, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge technologies in the realm of warship construction and maritime development.
