GRSE signs MoU with DNV – Strengthening India’s Maritime & Defence Shipbuilding
In a move to enhance its technological capabilities and global competitiveness, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd., a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, signed a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global maritime organization DNV (Det Norske Veritas) during the SMM Hamburg Maritime Trade Fair in Germany on 02 Sep 26.
Collaboration for Maritime Advancement
The MoU between GRSE and DNV aims to combine GRSE’s expertise in warship design, shipbuilding, and marine engineering with DNV’s global proficiency in classification, certification, technical assurance, digitalization, sustainability, and maritime advisory services. The collaboration will specifically focus on key areas such as advanced warships and specialized vessels, green shipping and sustainable technologies, digital shipbuilding, AI, Industry 4.0, skill development, training, and knowledge exchange.
Strengthening India’s Shipbuilding Capabilities
This partnership is anticipated to bolster GRSE’s capabilities in digitalization, green technologies, and advanced shipbuilding practices. It will also contribute to India’s capacity to undertake technologically advanced defence and commercial shipbuilding projects. The collaboration is a step towards fostering innovation, sustainability, and global excellence, which will ultimately strengthen India’s maritime and defence ecosystem, making it more self-reliant in the process.
