GTT receives an order from HD Hyundai Samho Co. for the tank design of four new LNG carriers
GTT Wins Order for LNG Carrier Tank Designs from Korean Shipyard
In the third quarter of 2024, GTT, a well-known technology and engineering company, received an order from the Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Samho Co. GTT will design the tanks for four new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC). These ships are being built for a European ship-owner.
Each of these LNG carriers will have tanks that can hold up to 174,000 m³ of liquefied gas. GTT will use its advanced Mark III Flex membrane containment system for these tanks. This system is known for its strength and ability to store liquefied natural gas (LNG) during transport safely.
The delivery of these vessels is expected to happen between the first and fourth quarters of 2027.
About GTT:
GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) is a global leader in the design and development of cryogenic membrane containment systems. These systems are crucial for transporting and storing liquefied gases like LNG. For over 60 years, GTT has been creating innovative technology used in LNG carriers, floating terminals, onshore storage tanks, and multi-gas carriers.
GTT is committed to building a more sustainable future. The company develops systems that allow commercial ships to use LNG as fuel, helping reduce harmful emissions. They also create digital tools that improve a vessel’s fuel efficiency and environmental performance. Additionally, GTT is working on low-carbon solutions to help decarbonize the shipping industry.
Through its subsidiary, Elogen, GTT is involved in the green hydrogen sector. Elogen designs and builds Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers, which play a key role in producing clean hydrogen, an important part of the transition to greener energy.
With its continuous focus on innovation, GTT aims to support shipowners and energy providers in their move toward a cleaner, greener world.
