MAN PrimeServ Signs Service Agreement with COSCO SHIPPING to Support Vessels in Europe

MAN PrimeServ Signs Service Agreement with COSCO SHIPPING

MAN PrimeServ Hamburg, a part of the German engine company MAN Energy Solutions, has signed an important deal with COSCO SHIPPING Group’s subsidiary, Hanyuan Technical Service Center GmbH. The two companies will work together for the next two years to help COSCO SHIPPING vessels that travel to Europe, North Africa, and the Near Middle East. The agreement, called a Service Cooperation Agreement, was signed at the 2024 SMM maritime trade fair held in Hamburg, Germany.

This agreement means that MAN PrimeServ Hamburg will provide a full range of support for COSCO SHIPPING vessels. This includes offering spare parts, ship materials, inspections, and repairs whenever the ships arrive in Europe or nearby regions. This new cooperation is expected to make services smoother and more efficient for COSCO SHIPPING, which is one of the largest shipping companies in the world.

What the Agreement Means

Jun Xiong, the General Manager of Hanyuan Technical Service Center GmbH, is excited about this partnership. He explained that this agreement is a big step forward for both companies. It will make their cooperation much stronger and cover more areas of their business. This deal is a “win-win” for both Chinese shipowners and MAN PrimeServ, according to Xiong.

Olaf Gunia, the Vice President and Head of MAN PrimeServ Hamburg, also spoke about the new partnership. He said that COSCO SHIPPING Group is already one of their biggest and most important customers. The two companies have been working closely for a long time, especially when it comes to providing spare parts. With this new agreement, MAN PrimeServ hopes to improve their business together by providing even better technical services for COSCO SHIPPING’s vessels traveling to Europe.

Looking to the Future

This agreement will last for two years, but there is a chance that it could be extended. Olaf Gunia mentioned that MAN PrimeServ is interested in offering similar services to other Chinese shipping companies in the future. He believes this agreement could open doors for more partnerships between MAN PrimeServ and other shipping groups.

This new service cooperation agreement shows how important teamwork and strong partnerships are in the shipping industry. With companies like MAN PrimeServ and COSCO SHIPPING working together, shipowners can be sure their vessels are getting top-notch support.
