Hanwha System earns E27 Type Approval certification from the ABS

This achievement marks the first time an Asian company has secured this certification, positioning Hanwha Systems to expand its footprint in the global shipbuilding and maritime cybersecurity markets.

The E27 Type Approval certification was awarded during a ceremony in Seoul on Monday. This certification evaluates the performance and safety of ship equipment throughout its lifecycle, focusing specifically on cybersecurity. It ensures that onboard systems and equipment meet stringent standards for design, manufacturing, operation, and maintenance. With this certification, SecuAider can now be exported and supplied to global shipyards and shipping companies recognized by the ABS.
The International Association of Classification Societies has mandated that all ships built after July 2024 must comply with new cyber resilience standards. Consequently, onboard systems and equipment will need to obtain E27 Type Approval certification to meet these requirements. This regulatory shift highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity in the maritime industry.
