Hapag-Lloyd Receives LNG-Powered 23,660 TEU Containership from Hanwha Ocean

German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has recently taken delivery of a state-of-the-art liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel containership from the South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean. This vessel, named Hamburg Express, is part of the company’s latest Hamburg Express class, marking the seventh ship in a series of twelve that are among the largest containerships ever to sail under the German flag.

The Hamburg Express class represents a significant step forward in shipping technology, with each vessel boasting a capacity of over 23,500 TEU. These ships are designed to enhance operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, reflecting Hapag-Lloyd’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
