Havfram Secures New Offshore Wind Project

Norwegian offshore wind contractor Havfram has secured a significant construction project in Europe. The project is expected to last approximately one year and will commence in 2029. Havfram plans to utilize one of its newbuild installation vessels, which is set to be delivered in the latter half of 2025. While the company has not disclosed specific details about the project, this contract marks an important milestone in Havfram’s ongoing expansion in the offshore wind sector.

Expanding Fleet and Future Contracts

This new contract is Havfram’s eighth agreement for transport and installation support of turbines for large-scale offshore wind projects in Europe, scheduled between 2026 and 2030. The company is actively building a fleet of advanced offshore wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs) at CIMC Raffles in China. The first of these vessels is expected to be delivered in August 2025, followed by a second vessel in late Q4 2025.

In addition to this recent contract, Havfram has made significant strides in securing future projects. Last October, the company signed a reservation agreement with an undisclosed client for one of its newbuilds, with operations expected to start in the first quarter of 2029. This follows the successful acquisition of two offshore wind contracts in Germany from Luxcara, as well as a partnership between Vattenfall and BASF. These agreements ensure that Havfram’s newbuilds will be utilized in 2027 and 2028, further solidifying the company’s position in the offshore wind market.

As the demand for renewable energy sources continues to rise, Havfram’s strategic investments in advanced vessels and long-term contracts position the company for growth in the competitive offshore wind industry.
