Havila Shipping seals vessel extension deal with Equinor
Havila Troll's Charter Extended by Equinor

Havila Shipping, a Norwegian offshore support vessel operator, has successfully secured a one-year extension for its rescue and recovery vessel, Havila Troll, with energy giant Equinor. This extension prolongs the vessel’s charter until November 2026, reinforcing its vital role in offshore safety and recovery operations on the Norwegian continental shelf. Additionally, Equinor has the option to extend the charter for three more years, potentially keeping the vessel in service until late 2029.
Significance of the Extension
The Havila Troll, built in 2003, has been a crucial asset for Equinor, contributing to the company’s offshore safety protocols for several years. This recent extension underscores the importance of the vessel in maintaining operational safety and recovery capabilities in the challenging offshore environment. Havila Shipping, based in Fosnavåg, operates a diverse fleet of approximately 10 offshore units, which includes vessels dedicated to subsea construction, platform supply, and multi-field rescue and recovery operations.
Equinor’s decision to exercise the extension option reflects its commitment to ensuring robust safety measures in its offshore activities. The flexibility provided by the additional one-year options allows Equinor to adapt to changing operational needs while ensuring that the Havila Troll remains available for critical support. This strategic partnership highlights the ongoing collaboration between Havila Shipping and Equinor, aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in offshore operations.
