HD Hyundai Presents Future Blueprint for Shipbuilding at Gastech
HD Hyundai is gearing up to showcase its latest advancements in gas carrier technology at the upcoming ‘Gastech’ exhibition, the largest gas exhibition globally.
Participation in ‘Gastech 2026’
From the 14th to the 17th of the month, HD Hyundai will be participating in ‘Gastech 2026’ in Bangkok, Thailand. The event will see the participation of five subsidiaries of HD Hyundai, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Samho, HD Hyundai Marine Solution, and HD Hyundai Electric. The joint booth prepared by HD Hyundai will feature environmentally friendly ship models, such as next-generation LNG carriers, FSRUs, and liquefied carbon dioxide carriers.
Key Highlights and Expectations
The 37th edition of ‘Gastech’ is anticipated to draw over 1,000 companies from across the globe and attract more than 50,000 visitors. High-profile figures from HD Hyundai, including Chairman Kim Hyung-kwan and President of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, will be present at the exhibition. The company’s executives and employees from various departments will actively promote eco-friendly technologies to global shipping lines and classification societies, outlining a vision for the future of shipbuilding and the maritime industry.
Technological Advancements and Certifications
HD Hyundai has recently received design approval from Lloyd’s Register (LR) for a future LNG carrier that features a bow living quarter and a wind-assisted propulsion system. Furthermore, the company is set to obtain basic certification from LR and other classification societies for its innovative design technology, which can replace the minimum pressure requirements of ‘Type C tanks’. HD Hyundai is also working on the development of a 35,000-cubic-meter liquefied carbon dioxide carrier and an 185,000-cubic-meter HYBE-led electric propulsion system.
In a recent interview with a representative from HD Hyundai, it was highlighted that the company’s unique shipbuilding technology enables it to adapt to environmental regulations effectively while enhancing operational efficiency.
