HD Hyundai Strengthens Shipbuilding Cooperation with Tamil Nadu Government

A high-level delegation from the Tamil Nadu government recently visited the HD Hyundai shipyard in South Korea to bolster shipbuilding cooperation. The visit follows an exclusive memorandum of understanding signed between HD Hyundai and the Tamil Nadu government, aiming to construct a new shipyard as part of India’s strategic initiative to enhance its shipbuilding sector.

HD Hyundai and the Tamil Nadu government have deepened their partnership through a recent visit to the Ulsan shipyard in South Korea. The delegation, led by Minister TRB Rajaa and Deputy Vice President Gaurav Daga, explored the shipyard’s operations and facilities, aligning with India’s vision to become a global leader in shipbuilding by 2047.

Under the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, India aims to establish itself as a powerhouse in the shipping and shipbuilding sectors. Tamil Nadu has been identified as a potential site for a dedicated shipbuilding cluster, showcasing the state’s pivotal role in revitalizing India’s shipbuilding industry. The collaboration with HD Hyundai signifies a significant step towards creating high-quality jobs and fostering bilateral exchanges in the maritime domain.
