Hengli Heavy Industries Launchs Five Vessels Simultaneously from No.4 Dock
In a remarkable feat of maritime engineering, Hengli Heavy Industries successfully floated out five new vessels from Dry Dock No. 4 on September 18. The morning saw the launch of two 114,000 DWT LR2 oil tankers, swiftly followed by three 82,000 DWT bulk carriers, all smoothly berthing at their designated locations. By the afternoon, all five vessels had completed the launching and berthing process, entering the full-scale outfitting phase at the dock.
World’s Largest Dock for Ship Construction
Hengli Heavy Industries proudly announced that its Dock No. 4, measuring 860 meters long and 146 meters wide, has the capacity to simultaneously construct four 24,000 TEU container ships, making it the largest dock globally. This achievement solidifies Hengli Heavy Industries’ position as a world-class shipbuilding base, showcasing its resource advantages in the industry.
Record-breaking Expansion Plans
Since the beginning of the year, Hengli Heavy Industries has achieved several construction milestones, including the simultaneous launch of multiple vessels from different dry docks. The successful launch of five vessels from Dry Dock No. 4 sets a new record, paving the way for the assembly of ultra-large container ships, oil tankers, and gas carriers at the facility.
Looking ahead, Hengli Heavy Industries is set to expand its capacity further, with plans to invest 13.5 billion yuan in three major capacity expansion projects. Construction has already commenced on Dock No. 5 and No. 6, which will boast impressive dimensions of 1,298 meters in length, 146 meters in width, and 15 meters in depth. As the company’s order backlog grows, Hengli Heavy Industries is gearing up to meet the increasing demands of the shipbuilding industry.
With a track record of nearly 550 vessel orders received since its inception, Hengli Heavy Industries is poised to make significant contributions to the maritime sector, solidifying its reputation as a leader in shipbuilding innovation.
