IRS and NCPOR Partner to Enhance India’s Maritime Research Capabilities
In a notable development for maritime research in India, the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has entered into an agreement with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. This agreement, focused on the construction supervision of a new Ocean Research Vessel (ORV) at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, marks a significant step forward in advancing India’s oceanographic research infrastructure.
The signing of the agreement was attended by prominent representatives from both organizations, including Mr. Devrup Kabi, Head of Ship Building Project Management at IRS, and Shri M.M. Subramaniam, Scientist in Charge of Vessel Operation and Management at NCPOR. Their collaboration underscores the shared commitment to enhancing the nation’s capabilities in marine exploration.
