King Ship returns for four more bulkers at Taizhou Zhonghang
Taizhou Shipyard Secures Major Cargo Vessel Order

Taizhou Zhonghang Shipbuilding, a prominent Chinese shipyard, has landed a significant contract to build four additional 63,000 dwt general cargo ships for Hong Kong-based King Ship (HK). This latest agreement, finalized yesterday at the Taizhou Port Shipbuilding New Area, expands King Ship’s previous order of eight vessels placed earlier this year, bringing the total to twelve. The new ships are designed to accommodate a variety of cargo types, reflecting the increasing demand for versatile vessels in international shipping.
Growing Demand for Multipurpose Vessels
The newly ordered vessels will serve a wide range of purposes, including breakbulk, bulk, and project cargoes. This versatility is crucial as global trade continues to evolve, necessitating ships that can handle diverse cargo types efficiently. The design of these ships aligns with current market trends, which favor multipurpose vessels capable of adapting to various shipping needs.
While specific delivery dates for the new ships have not been announced, industry insiders indicate that the order will keep Taizhou Zhonghang’s shipbuilding facilities busy through 2027. This extended timeline underscores the shipyard’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of the maritime industry.
Taizhou Port Shipbuilding New Area is actively working to attract larger and more complex orders. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish the region as a leading hub for shipbuilding. By focusing on advanced vessel designs and capabilities, the area aims to enhance its competitive edge in the global shipbuilding market.
