Latsco Shipping Expands with New Container Vessels

Greece’s Latsco Shipping is making significant strides in the containership sector by securing newbuild contracts in China. The company, traditionally known for its tanker and gas carrier operations, has finalized a deal for two 1,900 TEU vessels at Huangpu Wenchong shipyard. These ships are expected to be delivered in 2027, with each vessel costing approximately $31 million.

Strategic Growth in Container Shipping

Under the leadership of Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Latsco Shipping is diversifying its fleet, which currently consists of over 30 vessels. The company’s entry into the container shipping market began in 2022 when it ordered two 1,900 TEU newbuilds. These initial ships were constructed by Imabari and were originally commissioned by the Japanese owner Shoei Kisen.
