MAN Energy Solutions to Supply Gas Engines for Power Plants in Indonesia and East Malaysia

MAN Energy Solutions is set to deliver 16 gas engines, totaling 172 megawatts (MW) of capacity, for three power projects in Southeast Asia. These engines will be installed at two power plants in Indonesia and one in East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The initiative aims to enhance energy reliability and efficiency in these regions.

In Indonesia, five 20V35/44G gas engines, generating 52 MW, will power a new plant in Batam, a growing industrial hub near Singapore. An additional four engines with two-stage turbocharging will be installed in Cikarang, near Jakarta, providing 50 MW to the local grid. Both plants will use low-emission natural gas, contributing to cleaner energy production for the country.

Additionally, in East Malaysia, seven gas engines with a total output of 70 MW will support a new power plant in Sipitang, Sabah. This plant will provide electricity to a floating LNG terminal, which is expected to be operational by 2027. The engines are designed to handle rapid load changes, offering a reliable and flexible power supply for the terminal’s operations.
