McDermott Secures Major ADNOC Contract for Offshore Expansion

Houston-based offshore contractor McDermott has landed a significant contract from ADNOC to provide Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) services for the Nasr-115 Expansion Project. Located about 130 kilometers off the coast of Abu Dhabi, this initiative is pivotal to enhancing oil production capacity in the region. By 2027, the project aims to boost output to 115,000 barrels per day.

Details of the Nasr-115 Expansion Project

The Nasr-115 Expansion Project is a crucial aspect of the broader Nasr Phase II field development, which is vital for ADNOC’s strategy to increase its offshore production capabilities. Under the terms of the contract, McDermott is tasked with delivering comprehensive EPCI services, which include the construction of two topside structures, a new manifold tower, a jacket, a bridge, and all necessary pipelines, cables, and modifications to existing infrastructure.

Mike Sutherland, McDermott’s Senior Vice President for offshore operations in the Middle East, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting ADNOC’s objectives. He stated, “McDermott shares ADNOC’s commitment to increase offshore production capacity and will do its part with safe, efficient delivery of the project to the highest quality standards.” This statement reflects McDermott’s focus on safety and quality in execution, which are critical in the challenging offshore environment.

Strengthening Marine Research Collaboration in the Gulf

While McDermott refrained from disclosing exact financial figures, the contract is categorized as major, with estimates ranging between $750 million and $1 billion. This substantial investment underscores the strategic importance of the Nasr field, a key offshore oil reserve in the UAE that has been operational since its discovery in 1971 by ADNOC’s subsidiary, ADMA-OPCO.
