Micah Mallace Appointed New CEO of SC Ports

The South Carolina Ports Authority (SC Ports) has officially named Micah Mallace as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, following a unanimous decision by the board of directors. Mallace, who has extensive experience in the maritime and logistics industry, previously worked at SC Ports for 11 years before his recent role as president of Harbor Logistics. His appointment marks a significant transition for the authority as it seeks to enhance its operational capabilities and competitiveness in global trade.

Leadership Transition and Strategic Vision

Micah Mallace’s return to SC Ports is seen as a pivotal move for the organization as it enters a new phase of growth. With over a decade of experience in the maritime sector, Mallace previously served as SC Ports’ chief commercial officer until 2022. His familiarity with the authority’s operations and strategic objectives positions him well to lead the organization effectively. “I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next President and CEO at SC Ports,” Mallace stated, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing the port’s services and competitiveness.

Bill Stern, Chairman of the SC Ports Authority, praised Mallace’s combination of vision and operational expertise, calling him the clear choice for this leadership role. “Micah Mallace understands the significance and responsibility of what we do and how it influences global trade,” Stern remarked. He expressed confidence that Mallace’s leadership will not only uphold the port’s high standards but also drive future innovations and improvements.

Mallace succeeds Phil Padgett, who has been serving as interim president and CEO since earlier this year. Padgett will return to his previous role as the chief of finance. As part of his strategic initiatives, Mallace is set to deliver his first State of the Port address on October 28, where he will outline his vision and strategic priorities for enhancing South Carolina’s maritime competitiveness. SC Ports operates marine terminals at the Port of Charleston and manages two inland ports in Greer and Dillon, solidifying its status as the eighth-largest container port in the United States.
