Minerva Marine firms up feeder options at Yangzijiang
Minerva Marine Expands Fleet with New Orders

Minerva Marine has announced the addition of two feeder container ships to its orderbook at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, bringing its total firm newbuildings to six. The Greece-based shipping company, led by Andreas Martinos, has secured a second pair of 1,800 TEU vessels from the Chinese yard, following an initial order for two ships there and two more at Huanghai Shipbuilding. This expansion reflects Minerva’s strategic growth in the container shipping sector.
Details of the New Orders
The latest orders for the feeder vessels are part of a broader program that includes options for two additional units at each shipyard, potentially increasing the total series to eight ships. The new vessels are expected to operate on conventional fuel, with estimated unit costs ranging from $30 million to $33 million, according to newbuilding brokers in Athens. Deliveries for these ships are anticipated to take place between late 2027 and 2028.
Minerva Marine entered the container shipping market in 2022, marking its foray with an initial order for a feeder ship at Yangzijiang. Since then, the company has actively expanded its fleet by acquiring four secondhand boxships, with capacities ranging from 1,780 to 2,430 TEU, as reported by S&P data. This strategic move not only enhances Minerva’s operational capabilities but also positions the company for future growth in the competitive shipping industry.
