MOL Vessel honoured with Director-General Award from the Japan Meteorological Agency

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), a leading maritime company headquartered in Tokyo and led by President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto, proudly announced today that two vessels under its management have been honoured with the prestigious Director-General Award from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

These vessels, operated by MOL LNG Transport Co., Ltd. and MOL Tankship Management Pte. Ltd., were recognized for their significant contribution to the development of meteorological services through the diligent observation and reporting of weather and sea conditions.  This year, two vessels managed by the MOL Group, the LNG carrier Esshu Maru and the VLCC Suzukasan, received the 2024 Director-General Award

This accolade, presented annually on June 1st, Japan’s Meteorological Day, underscores the vessels’ vital role as maritime weather reporters. Notably, MOL Group-managed vessels have received these awards for an impressive nine consecutive years since 2016, showcasing their unwavering commitment to this essential task.
