Strengthening Partnerships and Meeting Environmental Standards

This latest contract marks a continuation of NASCO’s business relationship with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard. Previously, NASCO contracted four vessels from the same yard, with three already delivered and operational. The new ultramax bulk carriers will be built to comply with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Phase III efficiency requirements, ensuring they meet the latest international regulations regarding vessel performance and environmental standards.

NASCO currently operates a fleet of approximately 20 bulk carriers, predominantly in the supramax segment. The addition of these two new vessels will not only bolster NASCO’s fleet size but also enhance its ability to meet the growing demands of the shipping industry while adhering to stringent environmental guidelines. As the maritime sector increasingly focuses on sustainability, NASCO’s investment in modern, efficient vessels positions the company favorably in a competitive market.

The decision to expand the fleet with these newbuilds reflects NASCO’s proactive approach to maintaining a robust and environmentally compliant shipping operation. With the delivery of these ultramax bulk carriers set for 2027, NASCO is poised to strengthen its market presence and continue its legacy in the bulk shipping sector.
