Docking at Muelle Uno from January 9 to January 25, 2026, this historical vessel will be open for public visits, offering a unique glimpse into maritime history. Visitors can explore the ship daily from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with tickets priced at eight euros for adults and four euros for children, along with family packages available for 20 euros.
A Journey Through History
The Nao Santa María is not just a ship; it represents a pivotal moment in history—the discovery of America. This replica was meticulously constructed by the Nao Victoria Foundation in Punta Umbría, Huelva, with contributions from the provincial council of Huelva and the Cajasol Foundation. The project took fourteen months, starting in January 2017 and culminating in March 2018, involving nearly a hundred skilled professionals. These included shipwrights, net-makers, and historians, all collaborating to ensure the authenticity of the design and construction.
Launched on March 16, 2018, the Nao Santa María weighs 200 tonnes and measures 28.3 meters in length, 7.96 meters in beam, and 3.49 meters in depth. It features three masts—main, mizzen, and foremast—along with a bowsprit. The mainmast towers nearly 25 meters above the waterline, and the ship is equipped with five sails that cover a total area of 303 square meters. The rigging consists of approximately three kilometers of ropes, showcasing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into its creation.
