Norwegian Cruise Line Unveils Plans for Norwegian Aura, Its Largest Ship Yet
Norwegian Cruise Line is gearing up for the launch of its newest vessel, Norwegian Aura, set to debut in May 2027. This ship will be the largest in the fleet, accommodating 3,840 passengers and measuring 1,130 feet in length. Norwegian Aura will surpass its predecessors, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, by 22 meters, marking a significant evolution in the cruise line’s offerings.
The Norwegian Aura will introduce a groundbreaking attraction called Ocean Heights, a three-deck, open-air complex designed for both excitement and relaxation. This innovative space will feature the most waterslides of any Norwegian Cruise Line ship, including the Eclipse Racers, Aura Free Fall, Wave raft ride, and The Drop, a thrilling dry slide that descends ten decks. Ocean Heights will also include a ropes course, rock climbing wall, and an amusement park-style area with mini-golf and carnival games. For guests seeking tranquility, the complex will offer private cabanas overlooking the Vibe Beach Club.
Exciting Features of Ocean Heights
Ocean Heights will span decks 18 to 21 and is designed to cater to thrill-seekers and families alike. The complex will boast a variety of waterslides, including the brand’s first dueling mat racer waterslides and a unique drop-in body waterslide that plunges guests down 250 feet of twists and turns. The Wave, a pendulum-style raft ride, will accommodate groups of up to four riders, ensuring fun for families and friends.
In addition to the adrenaline-pumping attractions, Ocean Heights will feature an 82-foot ropes course and a 25-foot rock climbing wall. The Aura Midway will provide an outdoor amusement park experience, complete with carnival games and a nine-hole mini-golf course. For those looking for a more serene experience, the complex will also include private cabanas, offering a perfect spot to unwind.
Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., expressed pride in introducing Norwegian Aura, emphasizing its role in bringing together families and travelers from around the globe.
Family-Friendly Spaces and Accommodations
Norwegian Aura will also incorporate many beloved features from previous ships while expanding family-friendly spaces. Ocean Boulevard, which encircles the ship, will be extended by 11% compared to Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, providing additional seating and new amenities, including hot tubs and a bar. The expanded Infinity Beach will serve as a relaxation hub, complete with luxurious day beds and wading pools.
Dedicated areas for children and teenagers will enhance the onboard experience. Adventure Alley will cater to kids aged 6 to 10, featuring imaginative crawl spaces and tunnels. The Teen Hangout will offer a retreat for older guests, complete with a photo wall for capturing memories. For younger children, Little Explorer’s Cove will provide a playground with slides and playhouses.
Disney Treasure Cruise Ship: Best Amenities, Restaurants, Cabins
Norwegian Aura will also feature a Kids Aqua Park with interactive water features and family-friendly waterslides. The pool deck will be 20% larger than those on previous ships, offering more seating and amenities, including an additional infinity hot tub and a larger LED entertainment screen.
With 1,976 staterooms, Norwegian Aura will offer a wide range of accommodations, including the exclusive Haven by Norwegian complex, which will feature 30% more suites than previous ships. Currently under construction at a Fincantieri shipyard, Norwegian Aura will embark on its inaugural voyage in Europe before relocating to Miami for Caribbean cruises in June 2027.
