Nova Scotia to Launch Canada’s First Electric Lobster Vessels

Officials in Nova Scotia have unveiled plans to begin construction and testing on a fleet of all-electric lobster vessels, marking a significant step towards zero-emission commercial fishing in Canada. Officials in Nova Scotia, along with the Mi’kmaq First Nation community and industry partners, have secured funding for the Lektrike’l Walipotl Membertou Electric Lobster Boat Commercial Fishing Demonstration Project. This initiative reflects a commitment to clean energy leadership and showcases the potential of marine electrification in the fishing sector.
