NYK Welcomes 50 Students to Large Car Carrier at Port of Kawasaki
NYK Hosts Students Aboard Green Wave

On July 29, NYK welcomed 50 young students from local elementary schools aboard the Green Wave, a pure car and truck carrier. This event, part of Kawasaki’s Marine Month, aims to inspire the next generation by exposing them to the maritime industry. As future leaders, these children observed international logistics firsthand, participating in activities that sparked their interest in shipping and transportation.
Engaging Maritime Experience for Students
The Kawasaki initiative seeks to ignite curiosity about maritime trade and shipping among children. During their visit, students had the opportunity to observe the intricate process of loading and unloading vehicles aboard the Green Wave. They were also given a guided tour of the ship’s bridge, where they could see firsthand the operations that keep international logistics running smoothly.
The children actively engaged during a Q&A session, asking thought-provoking questions such as, “What inspired you to become a seafarer?” and “What meals do you eat on the ship?” Their enthusiasm demonstrated a genuine interest in maritime careers and the workings of the shipping industry. NYK is dedicated to fostering this interest, aiming to inspire young minds to consider a future in logistics and maritime operations.
