Regent Seven Seas celebrates milestone for new ship

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has officially marked a significant milestone with the keel-laying ceremony for its upcoming ship, Seven Seas Prestige. This event took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, and signifies the beginning of a new era in luxury travel with the introduction of the brand’s first new ship class in a decade. The ceremony included a traditional maritime ritual where three specially selected coins were embedded into the ship’s keel, symbolizing good fortune for future voyages.

Milestone Ceremony Celebrates Tradition and Innovation

The keel-laying ceremony for Seven Seas Prestige was described as a “pivotal moment” by Regent Seven Seas Chief Luxury Officer Jason Montague. He emphasized the ship’s role in continuing the brand’s legacy of ultra-luxury travel. “We are proud to cement our place as leaders in the industry with this exciting milestone,” Montague stated. The partnership between Regent and Fincantieri is built on shared values of expertise and dedication to perfection, which Montague believes will bring the vision of Seven Seas Prestige to life.

Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ships Division, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of the keel-laying for both companies and the broader cruise industry. He noted that the ship represents a commitment to elevating the standards of ultra-luxury cruising. Matarazzo also mentioned that the construction of Seven Seas Prestige will leverage the technical excellence gained from building previous Explorer Class vessels, ensuring that the new ship embodies innovation and craftsmanship.
