Region 2 receives Police Marine boat

New Marine Boat Boosts Police Security in Guyana’s Region 2

A Safer Pomeroon River

The police force in Region 2 of Guyana now has a powerful new tool to improve safety and fight crime: a new police marine boat. This addition is designed to help officers respond faster and more effectively, especially along the Pomeroon River, where residents have long faced challenges with security.

The new boat was officially handed over during a ceremony on Wednesday to Superintendent Khemraj Shivbaran, the Regional Police Divisional Commander. This move shows the strong commitment of local leaders to making the area safer for everyone.

Better Tools for Faster Response

The marine boat will be stationed at Charity, a key location along the river. This area has been difficult for police to reach quickly because of its geography. With the new boat, officers can now respond faster to emergencies, investigate reports, and patrol the river effectively.

Superintendent Shivbaran praised the new boat, calling it a valuable asset for law enforcement. The boat will not only help with regular patrols but also support search and rescue missions, making it a lifeline for both officers and residents.

At the handover ceremony, important figures such as Mayor Devin Mohan and Essequibo Chamber of Commerce (ECC) President P. Jaigobin were present. Their attendance highlighted the teamwork between law enforcement and community leaders to improve safety in the region.

Life Jackets for Safety

To further support the initiative, ECC President P. Jaigobin donated six life jackets to the Regional Police Division. These life jackets are essential for ensuring the safety of officers working on the new boat.

Superintendent Shivbaran expressed his gratitude, saying that the contribution shows the community’s dedication to helping the police. Safety gear is an important part of ensuring officers can do their job effectively and without risk.

A Positive Change for the Community

Residents of Region 2 can now look forward to a more active police presence along the Pomeroon River. The boat is expected to reduce crime, provide quicker help in emergencies, and improve overall security.

This collaboration between the police, local government, and the community is an example of how teamwork can make a difference. As the boat begins its patrols, the Pomeroon River is set to become a safer place for everyone.
