RCL Expands Fleet with New Orders for 4,300 TEU Vessels
Thailand’s Regional Container Lines (RCL) has announced the order of two additional 4,300 TEU vessels, marking a continued partnership with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard. According to MB Shipbrokers, these ships are part of RCL’s latest expansion efforts, with delivery expected in the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028. The estimated cost for each vessel is around $60 million. With this order, RCL now has eight sister vessels on order from the feeder-specialist yard.

RCL, established in 1979 and listed on the Thai Stock Exchange since 1988, is making strategic moves to strengthen its position in the competitive shipping industry. The company currently ranks 26th on Alphaliner’s list of the largest global carriers. Its fleet consists of 35 ships with a total capacity of 78,854 TEU, alongside 14 new vessels under construction.
This expansion is indicative of RCL’s commitment to enhancing its service capabilities and maintaining a robust fleet to meet growing market demands. The addition of these new vessels will likely play a crucial role in the company’s long-term growth strategy.
