Russian line founded with focus on West Africa
New Shipping Line Links West Africa and Russia

Andrei Severilov, the former chairman of FESCO, has launched a new shipping venture aimed at enhancing trade connections between West Africa and Russia. His company, A7 African Cargo Lines, has commenced operations with its inaugural route set to link Novorossiysk, Russia, with Lagos, Nigeria. Two chartered 700 TEU boxships will service this route, with future expansions planned to include stops in Senegal.
A New Era for Trade Routes
Severilov’s new enterprise comes on the heels of significant changes in the shipping industry. Having previously held a 23.8% stake in FESCO, a major container line, Severilov lost his position when the company was taken over by the state in 2022. This takeover followed the arrest of FESCO’s major shareholder, Ziyavudin Magomedov, on corruption charges.
With A7 African Cargo Lines, Severilov aims to tap into the growing demand for efficient shipping services between Africa and Europe. The initial route will serve as a critical link for businesses seeking to trade goods between these two regions. The decision to include Senegal in future plans indicates a strategic approach to expanding operational reach and improving logistical capabilities in West Africa.
Severilov’s background in the shipping industry positions him well to navigate the complexities of international trade. His new venture could potentially reshape trade dynamics, providing much-needed services to facilitate commerce between West Africa and Russia. As the global shipping sector continues to evolve, A7 African Cargo Lines represents a significant development in enhancing trade connectivity.
