On Saturday morning, a serious incident unfolded aboard the container ship Leto at the port of Algeciras, prompting a swift rescue operation. A crewmember fell approximately 16 feet into the ship’s hold, leading to an urgent call for assistance. Due to challenging conditions, a helicopter evacuation was deemed impractical, and maritime rescue teams quickly mobilized to ensure the victim’s safety.

At around 8:30 AM, the maritime rescue coordination center in Algeciras received an emergency request regarding the injured crewmember. The crew utilized a crane to carefully hoist the victim out of the hold and onto the boat, ensuring a safe transfer to the shore.
