Saudi Arabia Condemns Israeli Strikes on Syria
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry has labeled Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syrian army camps as “aggression” that breaches international law. In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry urged the global community to intervene and halt Israel’s violations. This condemnation follows similar statements from Turkey and other Arab nations, highlighting escalating tensions in the region.
International Outcry Against Israeli Actions
The Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed strong disapproval of what it termed “blatant Israeli aggression,” emphasizing that such actions violate both international law and Syrian sovereignty. The ministry’s statement called for immediate action from the international community to address these violations. This sentiment was echoed by Turkey, which described the Israeli attacks as a “dangerous escalation.” Additionally, countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and Kuwait have also condemned Israel’s military actions, indicating a unified regional response against the strikes.

On Friday, Israel’s military confirmed it had conducted airstrikes in southern Syria, claiming the operations were a response to attacks on the Druze community in Sweida province. Israel stated its commitment to protecting the Druze population, asserting that it would not tolerate any harm to them. This justification mirrors previous military actions taken by Israel during a period of intense sectarian violence in the region last year.
Reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) indicated that at least four Druze fighters had been killed in recent clashes with government forces in Sweida. In response to the Israeli strikes, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the actions as an “outrageous assault” on Syria’s sovereignty, accusing Israel of using “flimsy pretexts” to justify its military interventions. Amid these rising tensions, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has stated his intention to keep Syria away from further conflict, reflecting the precarious situation in the Middle East.
