Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI), the nation’s largest ocean carrier by fleet size, has announced a significant increase in its consolidated net profit for the fiscal year ending March 2025. The profit rose by 24.24% to ₹843.58 crore, up from ₹678.97 crore the previous year. This growth is accompanied by an 11.08% rise in consolidated revenue from operations, reaching ₹5,605.83 crore compared to ₹5,046.53 crore in FY24.
Strong Revenue Growth Across Segments
The impressive financial results were disclosed in a regulatory filing following a board meeting held late on Friday. A substantial portion of SCI’s operating revenue in FY25 was generated from its crude and product tankers, which brought in ₹3,609.60 crore. The liner business, which includes container ships, contributed ₹1,036.23 crore, while revenue from bulk carriers amounted to ₹711.29 crore. Additionally, the offshore business added ₹276.19 crore to the overall revenue.
In recognition of its strong performance, the Board of Directors has proposed a dividend of ₹6.59 per equity share, pending approval from shareholders. This dividend payout, totaling ₹306.96 crore, marks the highest distribution in two decades for the state-owned carrier.
Shipping Corporation of India operates a diverse fleet of 59 vessels, which includes 26 crude oil and product tankers, one gas carrier, five very large crude carriers, 15 bulk carriers, two container ships, and ten offshore supply vessels. This varied fleet positions SCI as a key player in the maritime industry, capable of meeting a wide range of shipping needs.
As the company continues to expand its operations and enhance profitability, stakeholders will be keenly watching the upcoming shareholder meeting for the final decision on the proposed dividend.
