Siport21 Celebrates 25 Years with New Maritime Center
Siport21, a leading international maritime-port engineering consultancy, recently marked its 25th anniversary with a significant milestone. The company inaugurated Spain’s most powerful Maritime Simulation Center, a project that represents an investment exceeding one million euros. This initiative received partial funding from the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI). The celebration took place at Siport21’s new offices in Las Rozas, attracting over a hundred attendees, including representatives from public administrations, maritime sector companies, clients, and collaborators.
Celebrating a Legacy of Innovation
During the inauguration event, several key figures spoke about the achievements and future of Siport21. José Ramón Iribarren, the General Director of Siport21, reflected on the company’s journey from its founding in 1999 by a group of engineers from CEDEX. Initially focused on bringing advanced maritime simulation techniques to the private sector, Siport21 quickly made its mark by installing Spain’s first private simulator just a year later. Over the past 25 years, the company has conducted nearly 2,000 studies and 800 training courses, establishing a strong international presence with projects in 60 countries. Iribarren noted that 70% to 75% of their work is exported, highlighting the company’s global reach and influence.
Iribarren emphasized that Siport21’s success stems from its commitment to quality, knowledge, flexibility, and innovation. He stated, “Siport21 is a success story based on quality, knowledge, flexibility, innovation, and above all, people.” This focus on excellence has allowed the company to thrive in a competitive industry, making it a trusted partner for maritime solutions worldwide.
The New Maritime Simulation Center: A Game Changer
The newly inaugurated Maritime Simulation Center is a testament to Siport21’s dedication to innovation and excellence. Iribarren described it as “the most powerful in Spain and comparable to the best worldwide.” The center features three interconnected bridges and cutting-edge simulation technology developed by Kongsberg, a global leader in maritime simulation. This facility is not only a significant investment for Siport21 but also a vital resource for the maritime industry in Spain.
One of the key highlights of the center is its DNV certification as a Maritime Training Provider, a distinction that guarantees the quality of its training activities. This certification is unique in Spain, further solidifying Siport21’s reputation as a leader in maritime training. The center will enhance the company’s capacity to innovate and lead the future of maritime transport, providing essential training and simulation services to seafarers and maritime professionals.
With over 20 years of experience, Siport21 has established itself as a premier maritime and port engineering consultancy. The company has completed more than 1,600 projects across 60 countries and trained over 2,000 seafarers from various international shipping companies. Their commitment to innovation is evident in their development of software packages related to the Safeport© concept and their involvement in designing new products and services aligned with Industry 4.0. As Siport21 embarks on its next chapter, the new Maritime Simulation Center will play a crucial role in shaping the future of maritime training and engineering.
