SLB Secures Major Petrobras Contract for Deepwater Wells

Houston-based oilfield service leader SLB has secured a pivotal contract with Petrobras, aimed at providing services and technology for up to 35 ultra-deepwater wells in Brazil’s Santos Basin. This significant initiative focuses on the second development phases of the Atapu and Sépia fields, targeting substantial reserves of oil and gas located as deep as 2,000 meters beneath the ocean’s surface. The project signifies a crucial step toward enhancing Brazil’s energy capabilities.

Advanced Technologies to Enhance Production

As part of this ambitious project, SLB will implement cutting-edge electric completions technologies and digital solutions designed to deliver precise, real-time production intelligence. This innovation will facilitate improved reservoir management, ensuring optimal extraction of these challenging and valuable resources. The advanced completions work is slated to commence in mid-2026, showcasing SLB’s extensive portfolio of specialized services and technology.

DOF Secures Major Contracts with Petrobras in Brazil

This contract builds on SLB’s existing relationship with Petrobras. Earlier in 2024, the SLB OneSubsea joint venture was awarded a contract for the Atapu and Sépia fields, which included standardized subsea production systems tailored for the pre-salt environment. Paul Sims, president of production systems at SLB, emphasized the importance of this new contract, stating that it will enhance reliability, system uptime, and production performance in these critical fields. This aligns with Brazil’s broader ambitions for energy security and economic development, marking a significant milestone in the country’s oil and gas industry.
