Oil Tanker Escapes Unscathed After Drone Attack in Fujairah

On March 15, 2026, the oil tanker ‘Jag Laadki’ departed from Fujairah port without any damage after a drone attack caused a fire at a nearby oil terminal. The vessel was loaded with approximately 80,800 metric tons of Murban crude oil and was headed for Mundra. The tanker had successfully completed loading operations at the Fujairah Single Point Mooring on March 14, just before the incident.

The drone attack led to a temporary suspension of some operations at the oil terminal. However, the ‘Jag Laadki’ and its crew of Indian seafarers remained unharmed throughout the ordeal. The ship left the port at 10:30 a.m. IST, continuing its journey as planned. While Fujairah has since resumed operations, it is uncertain when full normalcy will return to the oil terminal and surrounding areas.

The crew member fell ill while the tanker was en route from Long Beach to Angra dos Reis. The Argentine Naval Prefecture coordinated the medevac operation and successfully hoisted the man to safety. He was then transported to a hospital onshore for further medical care. This swift action highlights the importance of preparedness and response in maritime emergencies. The incident demonstrates the capability of naval forces to assist in critical situations, ensuring the safety of personnel at sea.
