Subsea 7 gets work on Turkish offshore gas field

Subsea 7 Secures Major Contract in Turkey

Subsea 7, a prominent player in offshore engineering and services, has recently secured a significant contract from the Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center. This contract focuses on the inspection, repair, and maintenance of the Sakarya gas field development located in the Black Sea. The deal marks a crucial step in enhancing Turkey’s energy capabilities and underscores the growing importance of offshore gas exploration in the region.

Contract Details and Scope of Work

The contract awarded to Subsea 7 encompasses a comprehensive range of services. These include project management and engineering, which will be executed from the company’s offices in Istanbul, Turkey, and Aberdeen, Scotland. This dual-office approach allows for efficient coordination and expertise sharing, ensuring that the project meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

In addition to project management, Subsea 7 will provide essential equipment for the operations. This includes two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) that will be instrumental in conducting underwater inspections and repairs. Furthermore, construction personnel will be deployed onboard the Turkish Petroleum’s light construction vessel, named Mukavemet. This vessel will serve as the operational base for the offshore activities, which are scheduled to take place in 2025 and 2026. The strategic planning and execution of these operations are vital for the successful development of the Sakarya gas field, which is expected to play a significant role in Turkey’s energy landscape.
