Tasmania’s CBG Systems scores major contract award for Hunter frigates
Hobart-based CBG Systems, an established player in the maritime industry, has recently clinched an $83 million contract with BAE Systems Maritime Australia. This deal will see CBG Systems providing insulation, linings, and pinning for the first three Hunter class frigates, crucial components for enhancing the vessels’ stealth and combat effectiveness.
Establishing Operations at Osborne Naval Shipyard
As part of the contract, CBG Systems will set up operations at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, where they will oversee the installation of fire, thermal, and acoustic insulation on each of the anti-submarine warfare frigates. With a workforce of 45 employees and over 40 years of experience, CBG Systems is well-equipped to handle this critical task seamlessly.
The company has already demonstrated its capabilities by successfully delivering insulation for prototype blocks in the Hunter program, contributing to the refinement of build methodologies and the integration of trusted suppliers into Australia’s largest shipbuilding initiative. This contract adds to the growing list of over 140 agreements awarded for work on the first three Hunter class frigates, with more than 80 Australian suppliers actively involved in the program.
