TGS Secures New Seismic Acquisition Contract

Oslo-listed seismic data specialist TGS has announced that it has been awarded a contract for streamer acquisition in the East Mediterranean. The acquisition is set to begin in the third quarter of this year and is expected to continue for approximately 30 days. TGS CEO Kristian Johansen confirmed that the company will use its advanced Ramform acquisition platform alongside its proprietary GeoStreamer technology for this project.

Details of the Acquisition Project

The upcoming project marks TGS’s return to the East Mediterranean, where the company last engaged in May when it secured a 4D streamer contract. This latest acquisition highlights TGS’s commitment to expanding its operations in the region and utilizing its cutting-edge technology to enhance seismic data collection. The use of the Ramform platform, known for its efficiency and effectiveness in seismic acquisition, positions TGS to maximize the quality of the data gathered during this contract.

In addition to the upcoming acquisition, TGS has also made headlines with recent business developments. The company has finalized contracts for the sale of two of its older seismic vessels: the Ramform Explorer, built in 1995, and the Ramform Valiant, launched in 1998. This strategic move reflects TGS’s ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet and invest in newer technologies to better serve its clients in the evolving seismic data landscape.

As TGS prepares for its acquisition in the East Mediterranean, industry observers are keen to see how the combination of its advanced technology and strategic asset management will impact its operations and market presence in the region.
