World's Largest Cruise Ship Set for Palma Visit

Palma de Mallorca is gearing up for an extraordinary event as the world’s largest cruise ship, the Legend of the Seas, is scheduled to dock at its port. This monumental vessel, part of Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class fleet, is set to embark on its inaugural cruise on August 2, 2026. The seven-night journey will take passengers from Barcelona to iconic Mediterranean destinations, including Palma, Florence, Rome, and Naples.

Legend of the Seas: A Floating City

The Legend of the Seas is currently under construction in Finland, with work having commenced in January 2024. Once completed, this impressive ship will measure 365 meters in length and feature 2,814 cabins, accommodating up to 7,600 guests and 3,000 crew members. Ticket prices are expected to start at approximately €1,200.

Royal Caribbean’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kara Wallace, expressed excitement about the ship’s debut in Europe, stating, “Our guests in Europe have been asking for an Icon Class ship to be based there, and it was the right time to bring it.” The ship will offer a plethora of amenities, including eight distinct neighborhoods, over 40 dining and drinking options, and thrilling rides alongside serene pools.

Among the ship’s standout features is the AquaDome, an architectural marvel designed for breathtaking views and immersive entertainment. Additionally, Thrill Island, the ship’s water park, promises to elevate the cruising experience with multiple exhilarating water slides. This focus on diverse family experiences aims to cater to all types of families, from those with young children to multi-generational groups.

Environmental Commitment and Future Voyages

As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Legend of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean International’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company is also implementing industry-leading environmental programs to minimize its ecological footprint. After the summer cruising season, the ship will set sail for its homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The inaugural cruise will not only mark a significant milestone for Royal Caribbean but also enhance Palma’s reputation as a premier cruise destination. With its blend of luxury, adventure, and environmental consciousness, the Legend of the Seas is poised to redefine the cruise experience for travelers around the globe.
