US Navy Launches Final Expeditionary Sea Base Ship
The U.S. Navy celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday with the christening of the USNS Hector A. Cafferata Jr. ESB 8, the last vessel in its expeditionary sea base program. But, I knew there was something special about him. There isn’t anything I ever thought he couldn’t do,” she shared with the audience.
Joining her was Jessica Cafferata, who, along with her aunt, served as sponsors for the 90,000-ton vessel. Jessica expressed her awe at the ship’s size and strength, drawing parallels between the vessel and her grandfather’s larger-than-life persona. “You can’t realize the enormity of it and the strength of it until you’re inside it. Grandpa was the same,” she remarked after touring the ship prior to the ceremony.
Vice Admiral John Wade, Commander of the U.S. Third Fleet, emphasized the ship’s significance in a world marked by complexity and danger.
