Valmet receives an automation order for two cable-laying

Valmet Secures Methanol Fuel System Order

Valmet has announced a significant order for a marine methanol fuel automation control system, intended for two cable-laying vessels. This order comes from China Merchants Industry Digital Technology Co., Ltd., a value-added reseller, and the vessels will be constructed at the China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) shipyard for Jan De Nul, a leader in maritime and offshore energy infrastructure. The financial details of the order remain undisclosed, but it is included in Valmet’s fourth-quarter orders for 2024.

Commitment to Green Technology

Philippe Hermans, Manager of Vessel Construction at Jan De Nul, expressed confidence in Valmet’s capabilities, stating, “Valmet has experience in green fuel supply system control. Their technical expertise can add value to our operations.” This sentiment is echoed by Gavin Wang, Marine Sales Manager for Automation Systems at Valmet, who highlighted the reliability and processing capabilities of the Valmet DNA system. He noted that the system meets the high safety standards required by Jan De Nul and supports their commitment to a green and low-carbon operating model in the subsea cable sector.

Valmet brings extensive experience in automation for green fuel-powered vessels, catering to both new builds and retrofits. The company has a global service network and a lifecycle approach to its projects. Notably, Valmet was the automation supplier for the first global methanol project with Stena Line back in 2014, showcasing its long-standing expertise in this area.
